*Kenshin stands a bit straighter as he starts to remember bits of his past, the most important being that he is in the presence of royalty. He slightly bows and tells her his name.*
"I mi-lady am Kenshin."

*Badger blinks for a moment then scoops up a strand of his hair and looks at it.*
♫There was an elf in Copherus-Towne... And Badger was his name...♫
*he sings, a little shakily... before returning to normal speech*
"And bugger me if I can remember the rest of the words.. but I'm pretty sure the song's about me, or I am not Fagan Laverre..."
*he smirks*
"Who apparently I am. But people call me the Badger... Which is a damn-sight better than Jackass... though I may have been called that too... It seems familiar somehow.. as if someone may have called me that very recently..."
*he stands up, swinging the dress/bag about idly at his side*
"Perhaps even someone in this room... I just don't remember...."
*He swings the Garb up to eye level and shakes it.. making little clinky noises with the shards inside*
"Also, Will you be having this back? Only... I've grown fond of it, and I'm not sure it will fit you anymore... er... Your Majesty."
*Badger then begins looking around the room to see if he missed anything, but keeps an ear towards Cherimoya.*

*Damara takes in a deep breath and then preforms a deep curtsy* "I am Damara ne Varen'Dau, your Majesty, and I am pleased to be at your service."
*After finishing her curtsy, she then turns towards Badger, and blushes slightly* "I apologize for naming you Jackass. It appears I called you the wrong animal entirely, as I don't think Badgers are as stubborn as Jackasses. But why exactly do people call you the Badger?"
*She then inclines her head towards Kenshin* "Well Met, Kenshin."

*Badger turns towards towards Damara and raises an Eyebrow*
"Did you? As I said, I can't remember."
*He offers a wink then turns away*
"As for being called 'Badger'... It's a long story......"
*he raises his shoulders in an exaggerated shrug and begins walking towards the door*
"That I don't remember."

Evette straightens nervously, clearing her throat and attempting to speak a time or two before her voice comes out unbroken.
"Your Grace, my name is Evette and I am a...scholar? I am, er, honored to make your acquaintance."
She sinks into a weary and uncomfortable curtsy before looking around to the others, nodding.
"And all of yours."

Cherimoya bows her head slightly, but respectfully. "The pleasure is truly mine, my friends. To a degree that you may not believe. With all of you here, there may yet be hope for my country.
Try as she might to keep herself composed, it is difficult for her to hide the relief in her voice.
"I may be... dead," she almost chokes on that word, "but it seems I may still be able to spare my people a life under barbarian rule."
She pauses for a few moments, considering all of her options at this point.
"First thing is first. I don't know how long it's been since they've been here, but the Daedalans will likely be coming back here soon. We should be gone before then. Beyond this room is a labyrinth meant to keep intruders from easily accessing the Nexus... A lot of good that did. I can lead us through. It will bring us up to the Throne Room in my castle. From there, we can see what the situation is above ground and act accordingly."
She looks everybody over again and her brows furrow. "Have you no weapons? That may pose a problem... Hopefully we can get through the labyrinth with no resistance."
"Also, I would ask that everybody take a shard of the Nexus. I... don't fully understand this new form of mine yet, but I get this strange feeling that it is wise for each of you to keep a shard close to you. And that I need to be close to them."
"And lastly," Cherimoya says, motioning towards her dead body with her hand, "since we may not have access to a great deal of money, you have my permission to take my... Where is my dress?"
It seems that in her initial distraught state, she did not realize that Badger had already taken it, and did not hear when he brought it up earlier. She looks around the room frantically before finally seeing it in Badger's hands.
"What would possess you to do something like that?" she says angrily, bordering on livid, but never raising her voice. Before he can say anything, she pinches the bridge of her nose and says, "Wait, please don't answer that."
She clears her throat and says, "That is a dress for royalty. Since we do not have money, it can probably be sold for a considerable amount of gold."
"Now, if there are any questions that I can answer quickly, please ask. Otherwise, I must insist we be on our way."
(Note: Cherimoya must be within twenty feet (four squares) of any one crystal shard at all times. She can move through any solid matter that isn't magically warded, making her very useful for short distance scouting. Bear in mind though, that she cannot turn invisible and she cannot pick anything up or interact physically with the world at all. This means that she can tell you what lies ahead, but little else in the way of adventuring and battling. Also, as she spends more time in this non-corporeal form, she will discover new useful powers for her to utilize.)

*Badger shakes his head*
"You just answered your own question, but thank you for the permission all the same."
*He shakes the bundle full of shards*
"Also I think we have the shard situation well in hand."
*Badger offers a curt bow, then spins on his heal and continues to head to the door*
"And now I'm bored, let's be shut of here and onto this Labra-linth!"

"Nice to meet you, Evette!"
*Damara shakes her head when the subject turns to Badger's stealing of the dress* "I tried telling him, Your Highness, that it wasn't proper. Also, that you might haunt us due to it."*She looks around shiftily, and grabs up a few shards, tucking a few in to her clothes*
"Hmmm.... I suggest when we have the money, we sew the shards in to our clothing." *Damara starts to hum, and walks towards the door, no questions for her Majesty.*

*Kenshin stands a little straighter and nods in agreement with Damara. Then sniffs the air, almost dog like, and heads towards the opening. As he passes through his stance becomes more animal like almost a crouch.*
( Note for the DM unless I specifically state that I am standing straight I will be in a crouch. I recently had time to reread the Racial habits of Shifters.)

Evette takes a deep breath, steeling herself, then scoops up a handful of shards. Clutching them close, she trots off after the others.

The party works its way past the massive, ruined door into the room beyond, and what faces them when they emerge is nothing short of horrifying. Cramming the hallway is a countless number of dead bodies; men and women of several different races that have been sliced, bashed, burned, and murdered in a number of equally grisly fashions. Blood, burn marks, and what appears to be acid damage cover the walls and floor. There was clearly a brutal battle that occurred here. Though the blood has not yet fully dried and the stench of death has not begun yet. This battle is only recently fought. Upon being confronted with this sight, Cherimoya begins to shake uncontrollably. She drops to her knees and begins to wretch violently, though with no physical stomach to speak of, this only results in a series of heaving noises. Cherimoya has clearly never seen carnage quite like this before. After the initial shock of the scene wears off, a few things become apparent. One, there were clearly two forces that clashed here. Each has an emblem sewn or otherwise attached to their respective forces armor. The first force, which clearly took the brunt of the battle, is made of people similar to Cherimoya, though not all of them have red skin and yellow lines running through them. They come in a variety of colors, but all look to be humanoid. There are also some humans scattered among their ranks. They wear a heraldic shield depicting two manticores rampant above an anvil. The other army is made of a different kind of humanoid. They look very similar to humans, but are somehow more bestial, sharing features of large cats and wolves. This force also seems to have a number of humans included. They wear an emblem showing a straight sword wreathed in thorns. The second things that you notice is that, though most of them have been left as yet undisturbed, a few of the bodies seem to have been stripped of their equipment. It doesn't take a great deal of insight to figure out that the equipment taken was probably far more valuable, and perhaps magical, than the mundane weapons and armor that has been left. It was probably taken by opportunists in the moments of chaos directly after the battle. The last thing you notice is the gigantic mass of smashed metal in a heap next to the door. Whatever it was, it was once vaguely humanoid, judging by the giant arm and leg shaped pieces. But its head is all but gone, and its chest has been almost completely caved it. When Cherimoya regains herself again, she says, "That was the golem meant to guard this chamber. But those damnable Daedalans practically walked right past it! There were many more, much smaller golems and homunculi patrolling the labyrinth against intruders. Though, I can't say we were expecting an entire army to find its way here..." "But," she says, "we are lucky that the bodies haven't been moved and stripped of their equipment. Quickly, grab whatever weapons and armor you can use and we can be on our way." Now the party can properly equip themselves. You search the bodies until you find a weapon and some armor that you are comfortable with. It's hard to say why these weapons and armor suit you. Though something in the back of your mind, perhaps some memories itching to emerge, tells you that these weapons fit right in your hands. (Be sure to make a note of what kind of equipment you take and which insignia the armor bears.) Whenever the party is ready, the hallway leads to both the left and the right from the door. Cherimoya waits until you are done searching the room and equipping yourselves before leading the party down the right hallway. These are the emblems displayed on the armors:

*badger lets out a low whistle as he surveys the carnage he moves over the bodies and dresses himself in the crimson leather jerkin of one of the beastmen.. finding a pair of sturdy boots and some leather gauntlets while he's at it., Searching the bodies for other accouterments as he goes and checking their pockets for anything that might resemble money. He does this methodically and without really thinking... as if he has done this often enough to develop procedural memory... As he works, he sings abscent-mindedly*
♫With his apple-red hair and his lily-white skin... Emerald eyes and the devil's grin...♫
*The whole time, he keeps an ear pointed towards the way they have not gone yet. He spies a pair of daggers and removes them from the belts of their former owners, shifting his weight from side to side to check their balance on his hips.*
(Can I roll a check to see if he finds anything of value?)

(Everyone will get Perception Checks to find hidden stuff, assuming they choose to search for anything beyond their basic equipment. They will be rolled once everyone has posted.)

*Kenshin surveys the sight before him. True sadness fills is heart as he sees the reaction of Cherimoya. Slowly he looks around at the carnage.*
"My-lady... I am sorry for your loss."
* Kenshin then looks around and equips himself with a Heavy shield, battleaxe, and red leather armor, boots and cuts a stripe of clothe from both sides, from females, and ties one on each wrist. Once equipped he straightens lifts his chin and inch or so and sniffs he air. Once this ritual is complete he looks for anything else of use.*
"I do not understand your singing Master Badge, but it seems a bit out of place among this carnage."

Evette looks panicked again, her eyes bulging. Like Cherimoya, she has never seen violence on this scale. As some of her companions begin to pick through the equipment, she takes several deep breaths, knees shaking, the others' words barely registering. Finally, she opens her eyes, looking grim, and sets off through the carnage.
She looks for something similar to what she feels she's worn before- light leather armor, easy to move about in. She finds a set and removes it with trembling hands. Then she delicately picks her way through the bodies, eventually acquiring a small pocketknife and a thin clublike weapon. Finally, she combs through the bodies looking for parchment or paper and a writing utensil.
