Badger first attacks the Clay Scout closest to him, but underestimates how quickly it is able to react and hits only air as it ducks under his strike. The other one is not so fortunate and takes a deep cut across its face (4+3+3=10 damage). Badgers acrobatics help him avoid any retribution from the homunculi and he ends up next to Kenshin at the corner, though he disorients himself ever so slightly, and it takes him a half second to ready himself again (low Initiative roll...). Kenshin's howl startles the homunculi, but not so badly that they falter. The Iron Defender tenses its body and the Clay Scouts raise their claws. They are ready for battle. The rest of the party draws their weapons. I also just used your profile pictures to denote where you are, but due to the size of some of them, they may look a bit stretched and goofy, Evette especially. It should be pretty easy to read, but just in case it is not, I'll explain. If there is more than one of any kind of enemy, the red number in the left hand corner of its portrait will easily let you know which is which and what I mean when I say "Clay Scout 1" for example. I will also note how many HP has been lost on each portrait in green. If any status effects, such as poison, are in effect, I'll find a little icon to represent that and place it in the top right corner of the portrait.

*Kenshin moves through the corridor to next to the enemy engaged with Badger (Move action to Clay Scout 1). Attacking with the joy of battle darkening his eyes, (Weight of Earth Attack), Kenshin snarls "You're mine!" in Elven. (Marking the enemy with free action).

"Everyone, prepare to hit the one closest to us. *Damara pulls out her lyre and begins to strum at it and play "Inspiring refrain", targeting the Clay Scout 1* "I know not who these foul beasts think we be, but it wasn't their enemies, now we'll stay and fight, show us all your strength and might."

Evette pulls out the small knife she's been carrying and prepares to defend herself. She is still somewhat shaken and appears not to be a very confident fighter and looks to her teammates as if to check whether she's doing everything right.

(The Player's Handbook neglects to explain what Weight of Earth actually looks like...) Kenshin attacks mercilessly, but the Clay Scout is just as quick as its diminutive size suggests and it nimbly sidesteps the attack (7+3 Str.+2 Prof.=12: Miss). Damara moves into position to attack the Scout as well, though she has to stand on some of the piled bodies to do so. The Clay Scout spares her a glance, but immediately returns its attention to Badger and Kenshin and, in fact, does not even seem to acknowledge her beyond that initial glance. It seems to have no interest in attacking Damara. Using this to her advantage, Damara thrusts at the creature with her longsword, the sword singing with Arcane music as it moves. Oddly, it makes no attempt to avoid the attack and the sword strikes it cleanly in the chest (17 damage, bloodied). As the thrust lands, the sword's music resonates with everyone else's weapons (+1 to attack rolls until the end of Damara's next turn). The Scout shrieks in surprised pain, and gives Damara a heartbroken look. "But ma'am," it says, "what have I done?" As this is happening, the other homunculi are making their advance. The Iron Defender rushes forward and bites at Kenshin but gets only a mouthful of air as Kenshin deftly pivots out of harm's way. The other Clay Scout moves behind Kenshin (combat advantage) and scratches him across his back (6 damage). (It is now Evette's turn) (You'll notice some changes to the map format, I'm sure. Most notably, the fact that character status is now marked on the map rather than in the post, and that I am no longer denoting damage on character portraits, as it really got in the way of everything. I'm always going to try and make the process of editing these maps easier on me, so more changes are very possible in the future. If something on the map is not working, or is difficult to read, let me know and I can adapt it with subsequent maps.)

Evette moves behind Badger to survey the battle as no enemies can be reached with her knife.

*Badger glances down at the scratch and sneers*
"I just got these breaches, and now they've been torn! I've a mind to do the same to you, but you're not wearing pants! No matter."
(Duelist's Flurry. If successful, Badger slashes at the Clay Golem, then plants a boot in the middle of it's chest, pushing it back and moving to where it once stood in the same action.)

Evette moves into position behind Badger, unable to reach the Clay Scouts. Badger makes a snide remark about pants and winds up his attack. He must have telegraphed it though, as the Clay Scout easily sidesteps it, and Badger nearly falls on his face because of the momentum (2+3 Dex.+1 Inspiring Refrain= 6: Miss). Badger's loss of balance actually works to his advantage however. The Clay Scout takes a big swipe at Badger and swings wide, missing by a mile. That makes it Kenshin's turn.

(To keep the game moving I am going into AI mode. I have to deal with my father's death and I am not sure how long it will take. All attacks will me Weight of Earth and I will mark anyone I am attacking. As far a exploring I will make checks when looting and if anything that the group notices.)

Kenshin, as if angered by his previous miss, swings his axe in a wide horizontal arc, catching the Clay Scout squarely in the shoulder (18+3 Strength +2 Prof.=23 Hit. 5 damage). Though clearly very injured, these homunculi are more resilient than they seem, and it is still standing. It cannot take much more punishment, though. And this last attack seems to have made it heavier and sluggish (Slowed). It is now Damara's turn.

*Damara thinks about the fact the Homunculus called her "Ma'am" and seemed hurt by the fact she attacked it... and decides to try to reason with them.* "I attacked you because you are attacking my allies! You are hurting my friends, they are not Daedalans just because of their armor. We are here in the service of your Queen. Stand down!"
(Diplomacy check please.)

"Ma'am!" the homunculi all say in unison. The Scouts lower their claws and the Defender sits on its haunches. The bloodied Scout grasps its injured shoulder, wincing in pain.
"My apologies, Ma'am," says the injured Clay Scout, "The pointy-eared one ambushed us in Daedalan armor. We had no way of knowing."
"Would you be quiet?" the other Scout says. "The lady soldier told us to stand down. She did not ask for your excuses."
"Both of you, shut up!" the Iron Defender hisses. "What are your orders, Ma'am?"

*Badger raises an eyebrow at the sudden obedience of the Homunculi and smirks.*
"Captain Laverre, Queen's Clandestine Guard. You address her benevolence, Double-Secret-Major-Lady Damara. Had you not so disrespectful in your treatment of the dead I might have stayed my blade, but your brigandry lead me to suspect you of being traitors to the crown and enemy spies..."
*Badger leans in.*
"You -are- loyal subjects of our dear queensy, are you not?"
(Bluff check!)

"Sir," the Iron Defender says, "you seem to be confused. We are not capable of treachery. The very reason we homunculi exist is to fulfill our assigned tasks. We cannot be anything but loyal. I thought every Anfiltean knew this."
"This is true," says Cherimoya. "Annoying and chatty though they may be, they will do anything you ask now that they believe you to be my soldiers. So long as it doesn't involve harming themselves needlessly, harming allies in any way, including stealing from them," she shoots Badger a not-so-subtle look out of the corner of her eye when she says this, "and leaving this labyrinth."
"Also, I'm fairly certain that Double-Secret-Major-Lady is not a real rank of the Anfiltean Army," says the less injured of the Clay Scouts, "And she's wearing the uniform of a Private." The other Scout stays silent and seems ready to pass out.
"They're also not stupid," says Cherimoya.
The ruse seems to be holding for the moment. But the homunculi seem to be getting suspicious.
